Stephen A. Goldstein, MD answers: Hardness under skin after Juvederm

Please do not panic! It is not uncommon to feel firmness in the injected area following any soft tissue filler augmentation. Juvederm® is comprised of hyaluronic acid and is typically soft, but it may take up to one to two weeks. It is unusual for the treated areas to remain hard. To be safe, I would advise you to return to your physician for an evaluation. There are some simple massage exercises that are useful. Please keep in mind that in a worst case scenario, Juvederm® can be erased with injection(s) of hyaluronidase.

Thanks for your question. I hope this helps!
