What should I do between hair removal treatments?

Article by Sam Naficy, MD

The most important thing to remember is to not tan before and after laser hair removal treatments and to use sunscreen on the treated area. Tanning creates more pigment in the skin and this pigment can absorb some of the laser energy instead of letting it go through to the hair follicle. This can create blistering, pigmentation problems, and at times even scarring.

Of course using the appropriate laser or IPL device with the correct settings is extremely important a safe and effective outcome.
