ProLipo cost & results

ProLipo is a laser-assisted liposuction device built by Sciton. The FDA approved ProLipo for laser lipolysis in July 2007. ProLipo claims to be a minimally invasive laser-assisted procedure for ablating and melting unwanted fat.

ProLipo uses a fiber to delivered laser energy to the fat, in turn melting the fat cells for easier removal by suction. This surgical procedure requires the use of tumescent local anesthesia, but does not require general anesthesia or IV sedation. Pro Lipo claims to result in minimal patient downtime with recovery time of just a few days. Pro Lipo is also supposed to tighten skin through its collagen remodeling via the 1064nm Nd:YAG laser wavelength.

ProLipo competes with [weblink:http://www.realself.com/SmartLipo-laser-liposuction|SmartLipo] and [weblink:http://www.realself.com/CoolLipo-laser-liposuction|CoolLipo] -- all three systems use fiber-optic delivered laser energy to target fatty tissue.
