Polidocanol

Polidocanol is a sclerotherapy agent used to treat spider veins. The US FDA announced in January 2007: "Drugs containing polidocanol are brought into the U.S. by private physicians for the treatment of spider veins. No products containing polidocanol are currently approved for marketing in the United States. Aetoxisclerol, manufactured by Laboratoires Parmacetiques, has been identified as labeled solely in French."

BioForm Medical - maker of Radiesse dermal filler - recently secured a licensing and US distribution agreement with a Polidocanol manufacturer (Kreussler Pharma). BioForm is undergoing polidocanol trials to secure US FDA approval.
