PhotoDerm is a professional hair removal, spider vein, or skin rejuvenation treatment option. PhotoDerm is based on an intense pulsed light source--similar to a laser--to reduce darkened areas of the skin, limit the appearance of spider veins, or to destroy hair follicles. A hand-held wand is used to pulse a small area of skin with intense light energy.  This light produces heat that is absorbed by skin tissue. Skin follicles with dark pigmentation containing large amounts of melanin absorb the energy while the lightly pigmented areas do not. The treated skin region gradually fades. By varying the light (wavelengths), specific areas of skin can be targeted without damaging nearby regions.
