Necrosis is a condition typically caused by a lack of adequate blood flow to skin tissue as a result of infection, toxins, or trauma. When blood cannot adequately circulate to skin tissue, skin necrosis--or the premature death of cells and living tissue--occurs. Necrosis can be a complication or side effect of cosmetic treatments and plastic surgery.
