Fitness

Being physically fit is incredibly beneficial for your health, appearance, and overall quality of life. The United States Department of Health and Human Services recommends at least 150 minutes of moderate intensity physical activity each week, preferably in a combination aerobic and muscle-strengthening routine.

Fitness before and after cosmetic surgery

Cosmetic surgeons often look favorably upon motivated patients who keep themselves in good physical condition. When a patient is in good cardiovascular shape and close to an ideal body weight, there is a better chance that recovery from cosmetic surgery will be safe and uneventful.

If you are physically fit, your body tissues may not actually heal any faster than one who is overweight and sedentary, but there is a greater likelihood you will be able to return to normal activity sooner.

Smoking can make it more difficult for the body to heal after undergoing surgery, so surgeons often insist their cosmetic surgery patients quit smoking weeks before and after surgery.

The muscle layer is the foundation on which the fat and skin sit. Having poor muscle tone can definitely limit the aesthetic results of abdominoplasty, and it can influence breast augmentation procedures as well. It is important to continue exercising regularly after cosmetic surgery to maintain your results.
