Endoscopic surgery

Endoscopic surgery is known more commonly as "minimally invasive surgery". In endoscopic surgery, the doctor uses an endoscope--a long, flexible tube with a light and camera attached at the end. A common cosmetic procedure using endoscopic surgery is an endoscopic brow lift.

How does Endoscopic Surgery Work?

In endoscopic surgery, the endoscope, or tube, is inserted into the body through a small incision. The camera at the end of the tube sends images to a screen that the surgeon can watch during the procedure for guidance. Additional small incisions are usually required to enable the surgeon to use the tools necessary to perform the operation.

Benefits of Endoscopic Surgery

Endoscopic surgery techniques can reduce the risk of infection, provide for a faster recovery time, and minimize the amount of scarring. Given the nature of how the surgery is performed, however, endoscopic surgery may take longer to complete and the endoscopic surgeon needs to be fully trained and experienced to perform the surgery.
